So the next day when the wife had left the house for a while Mr. Beri found himself with the Housemaid in the living room and opened up to her,
"I wanted to tell you yesterday, before you made me understand my wife was prying on us; that, after you have been delivered of the twins, if I found out that they are actually my kids as you claim, I will not only be the happiest man but I will reward you. If they are not, I will no longer adopt them and I will punish you severely or fire you. So better tell me the truth now if you are not sure,"
"I am sure sir."
But when the master left, she was so worried, "What if they turned out to be Fanla's kids. I am doomed, O God see me through this." she was so troubled that she found it hard to swallow lunch.
Later that day Verona confronted Jaila to find out what her husband was hiding from her, she was suspecting him,

She had to indirectly asked Mr. Beri's elder brother in the village, to find out if they had twins in their family lineage.
It was the first time she was meeting Mr. Banadzem. He paid them a visit because his junior brother wanted him to undergo some proper medical check-up because he was falling sick frequently. So she was assigned to take care of him and make sure he had his meals and took his drugs on time. While she was already familiar with him she decided to start a discussion with him,
"Excuse me Mr. Bana,"

"Is it true, if a woman or a man comes from a lineage that twins are common, he or she will end up having twins or be a granny to twins?"
"Obviously, that's somehow often the case, or just a myth. But it's also possible even if there are little or no traces of twins. Why do you ask, is it because you are pregnant."
"Not really sir,"
"But my brother told me you are a very good girl, that the guy responsible for your pregnancy is still a struggling man. That's why he has decided to help you but his wife is against it,"
"He said all that?"
"yes,"
"Are there any traces of twins in your family because I really pray that when his wife is pregnant it should be twins so he will be happy," she was very brilliant and was not even suspected,
"We don't really have twins, I do not remember any."
It made her more worried because there was no sign to give her hope. The more she dug, she became worried because she found out that Fanla had siblings who were twins. She became very sceptical about the paternity of her children.
