Verona was capable of doing what she said and her husband knew they were not just empty threats.

"I know the woman I married. She is not a toothless bulldog."

I have to be careful because we signed joint properties and the assets are not only for me now but for my kids.

He was not only worried about Verona but about the kids he was protecting,

"What if they turn out to be another man's children?"

Jaila was already a few days to nine months since she conceived. While, Mr. Beri was relaxing in his living room, the gateman rushed in panting,

"What is it?"

"Sir, there is a problem,"

"Which problem,"

"Jaila sir,"

"Is she okay," he jumped up and the gatekeeper scared him, "She is in serious pain, I think her stomach is on fire sir."

"Where is she?"

"Outside!"

He jumped up from his seat and rushed outside. He became more chaotic when he discovered she was on labour and needed to be rushed to the hospital.

"Get my car keys fast!"

He ordered the gateman who rushed in and bumped out sweating. He handed him the keys and he helped the restless maid at the back of the seat, "Don't worry it will be okay."

"What are you still standing there and doing? Can you open that gate for me."

The gateman jumped on his feet and quickly widened the gate. He drove out and before his back tyres could disappear from the road in front of his house, Verona hurried out,

"Visha!"

"Yes madam," the gatekeeper hurried to her and she asked,

"When I was in the room, I heard my husband screaming. What is happening and where has he gone with the car without even informing me,"

"Madam, it's Jaila,"

"What about her?"

"I think she is about to give birth."

"So the maid is now important to my husband more than me. I have now become insignificant because of a common house girl. Okay."

"Madam, it was her stomach,"

"Can you shut up!"

"Sorry madam."

She hurried upstairs, picked her phone and called,

"Hello, Jambo, Are you at the park?"

"Yes madam,"

"Give me a few minutes I will be there very soon."

A few minutes later, Jambo was seen inside Verona's car as she informed him,

"Take this money, buy some dresses and look good. I will be coming with someone to meet you. You will follow me to the hospital,"

"Who is sick madam?"

"Your girlfriend is about to give birth. I have spoken to a renowned lawyer. I am hiring him to back you up. He is going to stand by you and claim your kids for you. Don't bother about the money, I will handle everything."

"Hope say, my own money dey,"

"Don't mind, I will reward you handsomely."

While she was chatting with him, her husband was still in hospital and had not yet called.

Then Mr. Beri was panicking on the waiting room while he was perched on the pew fixing at the door. immediately the door was opened he rushed to the nurse,

"Nurse, how is she?"

"Be Patient sir, your wife will be fine, she is still in the theater. The surgery will be successful. your kids are doing well."

"Okay nurse."

The way he sacrificed for Jaila, everyone believed she was his wife. While he was still sitting there waiting, he was shocked when Fanla walked in to the waiting room.

"What are you doing here sir?"

One of the hospital attendants asked and he said, "I am called Jambo, I am here to take care of my girlfriend. She is about to give birth to my kid, twins."

"Okay sir, sit down."

Mr. Beri gazed at him quietly as they stared at each other like fierce enemies.
